Business and the visa regime
The UK and South Africa are still strong trading partners, and the visa regime will not affect the good political and trading relationship that currently exists. This is testimony to the fact that the UK is South Africa’s third largest export market, with the UK as one of the top three investors in South Africa.
UK Trade & Investment is working with the visa team in the British High Commission on ways to alleviate any frustration this process may cause to business visitors. The UK Government will continue to keep the UK open to business and position the country as an attractive destination for South African tourists and business visitors.
South Africa has not been singled out but is part of a wider programme to secure the UK's borders. Four other countries will need to comply as well - Bolivia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Venezuela. Already, three quarters of the world’s population need to apply for a visitor visa, and South Africa is now no exception.
Businessmen who are regular travellers to the UK may like to apply for a long-term multiple entry visit visa, which is valid for up to 10 years.
