How to register a marriage or birth
The British High Commission in Pretoria does not register marriages or births. Certified copies of any birth and marriage registrations that occurred in the UK are available from the General Register Office and can be ordered on line and paid for by credit card. There are often delays in the issue of South African certificates. The British High Commission cannot take responsibility for these. Also, due to possible errors in manual transcription, we might need to see a photocopy of the original vault copy held by the Registrar’s Office.
