Chevening alumni

The Chevening Alumni of South Africa (CHASA) had a very successful launch event at the Isisango Convention Centre in Midrand on Saturday 14 October.

This was the first Chevening Alumni event organised by the Chevening Organising Committee (CHOC) and they were delighted that Their Royal Highnesses the Earl and Countess of Wessex were able to attend the event and meet returned Chevening Scholars.

The proceedings got underway with addresses from the High Commissioner, Paul Boateng and Mshilo Mokotong, Director of the Alumni Programme.

After lunch and the departure of the VIP guests it was down to business with a presentation from Bajith Panday on what the Alumni Committee hope to achieve from creating this new organisation.

Participants then split into 3 groups to discuss; Membership, Constitution and the academic and economic benefits of the Chevening Alumni Association.

Votes of thanks closed the event with many pledges from the enthusiastic ex scholars to make their newly formed Alumni a success.
